At Children’s Health Defense (CHD), we think about children all the time, but especially during the holiday season. Because our children are sick:

We worry that they will not be able to enjoy or understand the merriment around them and will become frightened;
We worry that our children may not respond appropriately in social situations and that our families may not understand the unique needs of our children;
We worry that they may accidentally be exposed to foods that could trigger a deadly allergic reaction;
We worry that in all the chaos of the holidays they may escape our watchful eyes, wander off and be harmed.

• 1 in 6 children has a developmental disability
• 1 in 8 children needs special education services
• 1 in 11 children has ADHD
• 1 in 12 children has asthma
• 1 in 13 children has a food allergy
• 1 in 36 children has autism
• 1 in 285 children is diagnosed with cancer by age 20
