Leiders van de telecomindustrie weigerden gisteren te getuigen voor de senaatscommissie die wilden weten of er een verband is tussen mobiele telefonie en kanker.
De vereniging van operators in de mobiele telefonie CTIA (te vergelijken met Monet in Nederland - Stopumts) weigerden te verschijnen op een hoorzitting voor een subcommissie van de Amerikaanse Senaat.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich of (D-Ohio), chair of the subcommittee of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which held a hearing Thursday, said that CTIA (The Wireless Association), the industry major trade association in Washington DC, declined his request to testify with scientists and government officials about the status of the scientific research on the topic.

Ook ander Engelstalige media berichtten over de hoorzitting in de Senaat; waar blijven de Nederlandese kwaliteitskranten?
(Wel in NRC (23/9/2008 pag. 9) een artikel op de wetenschapspagina over Transcraniale Magenetische Stimulatie met een sneer naar critici van de mobiele telefonie, maar ''de slijpsteen voor de geest'' durft niet te berichten over de gezondheidsaspecten van de draadloze maatschappij.
